Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals come with a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive during booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines essential terms, conditions, insurance details, charges, and your responsibilities specific to your rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will take precedence.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a Vehicle in Isle of Wight
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire on the Isle of Wight, drivers must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may vary depending on the vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for drivers under 25. A valid driving licence, appropriate for the vehicle category, must be held for the duration specified in the Rental Agreement. Renters are required to provide valid identification and proof of current address, along with payment information and a security deposit. Additional requirements may be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Options
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Isle of Wight location. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are generally required upon vehicle pickup. All pricing is listed in British Pounds (£) and includes VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment services.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, a thorough inspection of the vehicle is required. Any existing damage must be reported immediately to ensure accurate documentation. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed by both parties. It is expected that the vehicle is returned in the same condition as it was collected, with allowance for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged appropriately. The vehicle should also be returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling charges will be applied if the tank is not at the original level. Late returns may incur additional fees, so please contact us without delay if you anticipate a delay. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during the rental period, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Overview
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. Details regarding coverage and excess amounts are outlined in the Rental Agreement. There are options for additional insurance to further limit your financial responsibility. You will be liable for damages or losses up to the excess amount unless additional coverage is purchased. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies are subject to the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur charges, which could affect your overall rental experience.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- The vehicle must not be used for illegal activities or purposes. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or any other hazardous conduct. Transporting dangerous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting to third parties or allowing unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purpose, adhering to passenger and weight limits. Driving outside of the specified geographical area requires prior authorization.
Breach of terms may lead to rental cancellation and fees.
8. Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by the laws of England and Wales, Car Hire cannot be held responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of our services, including loss of profits or data. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the amount paid for the rental within the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for personal injury or death resulting from negligence or fraudulent actions.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, with all disputes falling under the jurisdiction of their courts.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon their publication on our website. Continued use of our services signifies your acceptance of any revised Terms.
